Blogging has evolved by leaps and bounds over the years. More and more people have been adding to it and using it as a medium for expressing their views, thoughts and concern and voicing their own opinion over matters that they relate with. Over the years, blogging has come up as a powerful tool for any sort of individual. With blogging becoming quite popular among the people there are also certain trends that have caught with blogging as of late. Trend here is referred to the things that bloggers do on their blog or simply use their respective blogs for.

blogging

Direct Monetization

One of the constant emerging trends in the world of blogging is Direct Monetization. Direct Monetization refers to the point that you earn money directly from your blog. Selling your products on your blog, placing pay per click advertisements where you earn a certain amount every time a person clicks on the advertisement on your blog, hosting a site for membership, thus selling membership through your blog are common examples of direct monetization.

Indirect Monetization

Another trend in blogging these days is Indirect Monetization. Indirect monetization means earning money indirectly because of your blog. Affiliate sales is one common example for indirect monetization where the blogger sells others product and services to earn a certain amount as commission on the products that he promotes or sells. Freelance writing is also very popular among the bloggers and writers who earn money working and doing assignments provided to them by another group or an individual.

Hyperlocal Blogging

Hyperlocal blogging is also one of the emerging trends in blogging world. For the ones unaware, hyperlocal blogging refers to blog written by one or multiple authors who keep their discussion fixed to a certain area. With blogging catching every eye possible, there are various Television media, telecom media etc are using blogs to put across their respective concerned information among the public. A lot of popular companies carry a blog section of their own as well.

Multi topic Blogging

Multi topic blog is another trend that has been catching up with the bloggers. While earlier a multi topic blog was said to be a big no if you wanted to have a successful blog. But as of late it has been proved wrong and there are actually certain multi topic blogs that have got popular with their respective readers and viewers. Bloggers post their personal as well as their professional content in the same blog. The reason why multi topic posts have caught up the fancy is because it allows the writer to express his personal self on all topics he feels relevant to without switching to different medium or blogs. It is he who directs the blog rather than the blog directing and in the process restricting him.

One should not feel that these are the only ways you can make your blog successful, but as of now these are some common emerging trends in the blogging world and will continue to be so in the near future as well.

I wonder about multi-topic blogging. Assume someone starts a blog to communicate his or her thoughts, ideas, and passions with the world, and builds up a readership. Couldn’t it happen that readers will be bored or lose interest if that blog starts dealing with other topics not of interest to them?
